Those first steps are sometimes the hardest, often filled with anxiety and trepidation, but we all need to start somewhere…
For a run, its that time after the stretches have been had, the last quick check the laces are tight, the bladder is empty and the button is pressed on the GPS ready to collect the data for the latest run. The mind is ticking over whether to go all out from the start, or just ease into a steady pace and find a nice rhythm.
For this blog I am at that point right now where I’m ready to take those first steps. My fingers are flicking over the keyboard, trying to put on paper (well the screen actually) those first few paces that will set the tone for the rest of the journey. Those steps that if your not careful can lead to tripping up…
Generally when I head off for a run I have a course set out that I intend to cover, as well as a rough idea whats in store along the way. I know if the course is flat or full of hills, and what the weather is meant to be doing. I’ve usually set a goal, either I’m out there to challenge my personal records, or I am preparing for a nice easy run as a wind down, maybe just getting out to stretch the legs.
This blog for me is a step into the unknown. I’m not sure which way the path will turn or what pace I’ll set, but I’m looking forward to spending some time heading along it. Along the way I am looking to explain my methods for setting and achieving my goals as well as sharing my experiences, both good and bad, that have taken me to the point I’m now at.
With a mix of down to earth honesty blended with a bit of humour I’m looking to expand on topics such as my fitness and weight loss achievements, my upcoming goals and challenges, as well as the items and people that inspire me along the way. I anticipate a long journey, and hopefully you’re prepared to follow me as these first few steps help me move along the path ahead.
Feel free to comment here, or follow me on the social media platforms linked at the top of the page. Hopefully at some point we will catch up somewhere out in the great outdoors and put in some steps together.
